University Title Company continues to operate under its own name and with the same philosophy of its founders which turned a “mom and pop” shop of 2 employees and annual gross income of $40,000.00 to a thriving organization with more than 100 employees, multiple locations, and an annual gross income in excess of $10 million.

Phillip B. Goode and Sara June Goode began creating what would grow to be University Title Company in the 1960’s as an aide to Mr. Goode’s law practice. At that time, most real estate transactions were funded by the local savings and loan association with a handshake and signatures on about three pieces of paper. The title insurance policies written by the Company were directly related to real estate transactions handled by the law firm.
In 1977, Celia Goode-Haddock became manager of University Title Company, and at the same time, the real estate business in Brazos County was changing. Mortgage companies had come to the community and most of the loans generated by them were sold in the secondary market. No longer did the buyer and the lender have a personal relationship, and more documentation was required. University Title Company took advantage of the changing times and established strong business relationships with these new lenders. Instead of closings taking place in an attorney’s office, now University Title Company conducted closings directly.
In 1984, Phillip and Sara June Goode sold the company to their daughter, Celia Goode-Haddock, and two partners. In her management of the company, Celia continued the philosophy of her parents. She never asked an employee to do anything she was not willing to do herself. With time, the firm developed the reputation of treating the customer well and completing the transaction in a timely and accurate manner. University Title Company earned its reputation by hiring outstanding individuals with a common work ethic.
In 2016, Celia Goode-Haddock and partners sold the company to National Investors Holdings, LLC, a subsidiary of Investors Title Company of North Carolina. The union of University Title and Investors Title was a perfect match due to both companies having similar cultures, being client centric, innovative, experienced, stable, and industry leaders.
